• Infrastructure Improvements – To correct a history of neglect, Councilmember Contreras has fought for the  infrastructure we deserve. New lighting, bus shelters, safe routes to school, new restrooms, upgraded family parks, and more trees are making our neighborhoods strong and improving our quality of life.

• Community Resources – As a lifelong Vista resident, Councilmember Contreras has advocated for a wide array of programs that meet our community needs. We are a stronger community by investing in youth scholarships, increased homeless services, affordable housing for seniors and locals, rental assistance, tenant protections, and free after school programs.

• Public Safety – While successfully reducing crime through a holistic approach, Councilmember Contreras has ensured robust safety resources for Vista including the establishment of strategically critical fire stations, new fire engines & equipment, traffic calming and enforcement, neighborhood lighting, policies to protect against federal overreach, and hiring first-responder personnel.

• Transparency at City Hall – With the highest regard for democracy, Councilmember Contreras has ensured the public is engaged in all decision making. Along with holding  City Administrators to the highest standards and enhancing City communication, Councilmember Contreras has established policies to hold developers accountable, improve hiring processes, and maintain a balanced budget.

• Regional Leadership – Continuing her role as a public watchdog, Councilmember Contreras has fought on regional boards for Vista. While serving on NCTD and SANDAG she has secured millions of dollars in grants, completed projects, expanded public transit, and pushed for transparency.
